Aagaz Akhtar
For model, actor, and fitness enthusiast Aagaz Akhtar, his journey in the glamour industry is just the beginning and he has miles to go. From being a fitness trainer to Vivek Oberoi to a successful model, he knows in and out of the industry and talks about it with TMM. Excerpts from the interview:
Aagaz Akhtar is an interesting name. How does this name reflect your personality?
Aagaz is nothing but aarambh or shuruwaat. My journey is evident that no matter how hard the beginnings are; the dedication, passion, and willingness throughout the journey will bring success to you. Having said that, I still believe that in this stage, it’s just the beginning, I have miles to go.
When and how did you plan to step into the world of fashion?
Since boyhood, I had my eyes on looking stylish, presentable and the best of me. My dad is in the Bollywood industry and I remember he used to take me to his film sets and I used to silently get involved in the charisma and vibes of actors and since then I had my eyes on the fashion. Also, my dad is my idol and role model. His good looks & physique inspires me and he still looks better than me. (winks)
What is the biggest challenge for a male model and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge is to stand out. As we all know that there are plenty of guys with good looks and body, but the question is, what you have that makes you different from others? Well, one should be a complete package of style, poses, a good personality, and should always push his limits.
Today’s men are very much concerned about their looks and skin. How do you take care of your skin and health?
Well, I believe that it all starts from within the body. If you eat well you will look good. People spend a lot of money on their skin and on the other side they keep consuming bad food and then they expect to look good. I prefer to spend more money on my diet and less money on skin products. When it comes to my diet, I stay very disciplined and I don’t even remember when was the last time when I had junk food. And for me, the main thing is that I drink a lot of water, because Proper hydration levels help the skin to become plump and improve its elasticity, which means it’s less likely to crack and have irritations and blemishes. Also, I use sunscreen before stepping out and face wash every time when I come back home from outside. And face scrub twice a week which exfoliates my skin and helps remove dead skin cells.
You have been a fitness trainer for Vivek Oberoi. Share your experience.
I have always been a fan of his dark characters and his performances. Now, a bigger fan after knowing him personally and training him. It was learning yet memorable experience and I have a great bonding with him. From scheduling his diets to managing his fitness on shoots to relaxing bicycle rides in Juhu, I have shared some fantastic and fanatic moments with him and yes let me tell you that he is a magnificent actor. In one word he is just ‘Awesome’.
Any tips for aspiring models.
The best thing I can say is, one should first believe in himself/herself, in the work and then expect anything from anyone. He/she should know how to stay positive and motivated because I think people who are working in this industry are the loneliest, so it is important to stay strong enough to face disappointments and heartbreaks. Also one should keep working on himself/herself every day to be a better version. One should try to push harder and keep an eye on everything to learn, grow and evolve.
