Like several new moms, Jade Roper doesn’t like to be away from her little ones. The Bachelor alum welcomed a baby boy named Brooks with her husband, Tanner Tolbert, in July. Since then, it’s safe to say Jade and Brooks are inseparable.
“The mom guilt is real and I’m in the newborn stage,” she exclusively told Life & Style during the WE tv Marriage Boot Camp: Family Edition premiere. “It’s so hard in this stage.” Thankfully, though, her hubby is super supportive. The couple got married in 2016 and also share a daughter named Emerson Avery, whom they welcomed in August 2017.
“He’s so good with our daughter, so I feel like when he sees I need help he’s very quick to step in with her, which is good for my mental health,” she added. “Even today I was like, ‘I’m not okay, I need to talk to you,’ and he wanted to talk. That’s what’s so great that he’s so willing to be there for me.”
Speaking of mental health, Jade strongly urges others to seek help when needed. “I was telling Tanner, as much as there’s so much joy, there’s so much extra that’s sometimes overwhelming and it’s like, talk to your loved ones, let them know what you’re going through because there is help and there is hope,” she added.
In honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10, Jade got candid about her personal struggles in a lengthy Instagram post. “I deleted this post earlier because honestly, I’m personally struggling with my mental health right now,” she captioned a selfie with her two kids. FYI, Jade’s previous post was an encouraging quote reminding the reader that they are loved, valuable and not alone.
She continued, “The words I wrote fell flat when I read them. How could I say these things to others when I didn’t/don’t believe them about myself? I deleted the post, walked to the room down the hall, opened the door and told Tanner ‘I’m not okay.’ Lean on those you love, ask for help. You are not a burden. If you feel you have no one, contact Mental Health America to find resources near you. There’s hope and help.”
Very well said, girl.
