Originally published in Global Living Magazine – Issue 22 | January/February 2016

In every issue of Global Living Magazine we highlight a couple of great brands, services and products that we hope will spark your interest in one way or another and enhance your travel and/or expat experiences. In this issue, we feature a bakery, café and bar with family-inspired recipes from southern France and North America, and a global lifestyle network of women.

MAMAN

IMG_0116Maman bakery, café and bar serves family-inspired recipes from southern France and North America. With three locations (Toronto, Canada, and the SoHo and Tribeca neighborhoods of New York City), Maman was conceptualized by friends Chef Armand Arnal, Michelin star chef of La Chassagnette in the south of France; Benjamin Sormonte, a hospitality entrepreneur and former partner in the worldwide Experimental Group; and Elisa Marshall, a baker, event planner and designer. The savory and sweet menu changes every day, featuring dishes created from the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients, and highlighting Chef Armand Arnal’s classic French technique. To open Maman Toronto, their second location, Chef Armand, Benjamin and Elisa joined forces with their longtime friends, who recently relocated from Montreal, Laure de la Moussaye, a marketing strategist, and Othman Kacimi, a financier with a background in investment banking and capital markets. Maman’s third location in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood opened its doors on December 14th, 2015.

PINKTROTTERS

FoundersElisabetta (left) and myself (Eliana Salvi, right)Pinktrotters is a global lifestyle network of women who travel solo and/or move abroad for work or leisure. A great way to build meaningful connections with like-minded individuals, the Pinktrotters network includes exclusive experiences, travel and female-only privileges. The Pinktrotters team is made up of five core members and five external freelancers representing five nationalities and working from London and Milan. Ambassadors are personally vetted in each city to ensure that members can trust the ambassadors and their recommendations. As of October 2015, Pinktrotters had 200,000 registered members from over seven countries (primarily Italy) and 45,000 social media followers across all of their platforms. Joining and becoming a member of Pinktrotters is free, but there are charges for joining events and trips. The average price for a weekend getaway is £500 (USD 750), while the average event price is £30 (USD 45).

Entrepreneur Eliana Salvi, who speaks four languages, loves dancing, running marathons and playing piano, is the mind behind Pinktrotters. Born and raised in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, Eliana moved to Milan when she was 19 to study International Management at Bocconi University. After graduation, she joined a British multinational company, through a graduate program, where she worked for just over six years. At the end of 2013, her passion for travel and different cultures led her to set up her own business, and Pinktrotters was born. While living abroad for long periods of time on her own for work, Eliana found it hard to meet new girlfriends and discover the trendiest and most vibrant places to go, so she decided to create her own network that was tailored to her needs. After graduating in Law from Bocconi University, Elisabetta Baroldi joined Eliana at Pinktrotters. Born in Treviso and raised in Venice, Italy, Elisabetta always had a passion for travel, planning events and getting to know new people and cultures. Now Head of Events, Elisabetta is in charge of selecting the Pinktrotters ambassadors and growing the network of women around the world. www.pinktrotters.com
