Part of its exceptional Automata collection, the Tropical Bird Repeater is the newest rendition in Jaquet Droz’s now-famed bird repeater series. This mesmerizing timepiece, a series of just eight unique pieces, features a hand-engraved and hand-painted white mother-of-pearl dial and subdial. The watch celebrates nature and the automaton, which is activated by the minute repeater and shows a great dance of creatures in motion. The hand-carved and hand-engraved hummingbird moves toward orange birds of paradise while beating its wings up to 40 times per second. The peacock’s feathers open and close, and a toucan peeks out from palm leaves at 3 o’clock. Illuminating the scene are three dragonflies with Super-LumiNova-coated wings. The complicated new movement, Jaquet Droz RMA89, offers up to 120 different possible scenes. So as not to interfere with the tropical beauty, the watch features off-centered hours and minutes. The 47mm case is made of 18K white gold.
