French children’s retail brand Petit Bateau has tapped designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, known for his love of bright colors and pop art-inspired images, to create a capsule collection this fall.
De Castelbajac has designed a dozen items for children and adults that play with the brand’s signature Breton stripes and sailing motif, in a collection that will hit the Petit Bateau store on the Champs-Elysees October 12 before rolling out to other stores, reports industry site WWD.
One of the drawings is of a young sailor, which was inspired by the designer’s young grandson, Balthazar. Balthazar also modelled for the look book, which was photographed by the seven-year-old’s father Guilhem.
The collection will also be sold online. Prices start at 25 euros.
Petit Bateau will open seven stores in China this year, and six in Japan.
