Editor’s Notes: Jeremy Scott and adidas Originals’ latest collaborative effort might not give you wings but it will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Just months after reviving their famed “winged” sneaker, the duo will release the DIP collection, a range of fluorescent athleisure and two playful footwear options.
The first is a “glazed” version of the Forum Hi and Forum Low that mimic the look of rock candy. The shiny shoes are dipped in fluorescent orange, pink, lime green, and turquoise finishes, making for an eye-catching, if not mouth-watering, style.
The second is a neon yellow slide topped with a stuffed animal head reminiscent of another Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals hit, the teddy bear high-top.
In apparel, the pair put Juicy Couture to shame with a selection of terry cloth tracksuits, also rendered in a rainbow of fluorescents.
The two brands describe the team-up as “inspired by the undeniably bold, brash, and esoteric aesthetics of the 2000s.” Indeed, Scott is an undisputed master of the kitschy, campy look synonymous with the early aughts.
The designer’s latest collection for Moschino saw Gigi Hadid walk the runway in a gown seemingly fashioned out of a pastel baby quilt, topped off with a milk bottle-shaped purse.
If anything, Scott and adidas’ latest endeavor is toned-down, compared to their previous releases — in addition to the aforementioned winged sneakers and teddy bear high-tops, they’ve also dropped panda bear, gorilla, and poodle-topped shoes, as well as some very Flintstones-esque kicks affixed with large bones.
Their “DIP” collection may be tamer than most but it’s still full of flair.
