Stefano Gabbana: I love the sea, the beaches and the sun. It’s the best way to detach. I love desert islands surrounded by the sea … they are truly peaceful.
Domenico Dolce: I love to travel and explore places that I have never seen before and to roam around city streets with no particular destination. Many of my inspirations have in fact come from unexpected travels around the world.
DD & SG: There are a lot. It’s impossible to choose one. We recently stayed in Hong Kong, and it’s a city that we love to come back to every time. We love its energy and exuberance.
HOTEL HOTSPOTS
SG: I love Claridges in London. It has always been one of my favourite hotels.
DD: My favourite hotel is the San Domenico Palace in Taormina.
WEEKEND ESCAPE
SG: Definitely the sea. I love going to Spain, but also to Sicily or Portofino. They are always magical places.
DD: It depends on the time of the year, but I also love the sea.
SUITCASE ESSENTIALS
DD: For women, long chiffon dresses with fruit and vegetable prints worn with extremely colourful bags and shoes. Our spring/summer 2018 collection also has a series of looks using Sicilian black: corsets, culottes and little black lace dresses.
SG: The men’s collection is also full of colours, prints, patches and sacred hearts. There are a lot of sneakers that I love. I always wear them!
FAVOURITE FOODS
DD & SG: We are Italian; we love food, eating and organising dinner with friends. We like both sweet and savoury dishes. We like everything!
DD: If I have to choose a dish I’d say pasta alla Norma.
SG: On the other hand, I would choose a cannolo siciliano. As you can see we have no limits!
DESTINATION: ITALY
SG: It’s really impossible to choose one particular place, there are too many. Sicily is my favourite region, but then there is Milan, the city where our story began.
DD: There are a lot of places and cities I love. If I have to say one, then I’ll say Taormina in Sicily, my homeland.
WHEN IN LONDON
SG: Let’s start with the fact that London is one of the European cities I love most! In particular, I adore Primrose Hill – it’s wonderful! You have to visit it if you’ve never seen it.
DD: I agree. London is a creative and a vivacious city filled with ideas. We can’t help but love it. It is also the place of true freedom where you can wear what you want and no one will judge you.
DD & SG: And finally, there’s Harrods!
AND DON’T FORGET TO VISIT …
DD & SG: The new [Dolce & Gabbana] Old Bond Street boutique is special. It’s very big. There are six floors where the men’s and women’s collections are exposed. The interiors are a true poetic composition, made from natural marbles of different colours and really refined.
