John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are saying goodbye to not one, but two of their penthouses in New York City. The two had purchased the penthouses in the same building, intending to combine the two units into one and unfortunately never got around to fulfilling it. The couple is now selling both units for US$18 million.
The singer-songwriter and model didn’t buy the two units at once. They bought one unit for US$9 million in 2018 and the other for US$7.7 million. The penthouses are located in the Brewster Carriage House, which once used to be a horse carriage company. It was converted into condos in 2012.
The combined penthouses comprise about 6,100 interior square feet. Standout features include the custom kitchen fitted out with Miele and the white-oak floors found throughout the home. There are also three gas fireplaces, a wine refrigerator and heated flooring in the bathrooms.
But the crown jewel of the penthouses is probably the outdoor space. The property has a sprawling, 3,300-square-foot rooftop terrace for entertaining, complete with its own irrigation system and grill.
Legend and Teigen are reportedly spending more time on the West Coast, thus leading to the decision to sell their two penthouses in New York City.
Also on the market is Fast and Furious’s director, Justin Lin’s industrial-style home in downtown Los Angeles. Lin has used the penthouse as an office for his production company and lives on the floor above. The penthouse is now for sale at US$7 million, boasting 360-degree views with its rooftop terrace.
