While it’s been over two weeks since Justin Timberlake was photographed holding hands in New Orleans with his Palmer costar Alisha Wainwright, things between the former boy-bander and his wife, Jessica Biel, are still rocky. “Justin and Jessica are not in a great place,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style magazine, on newsstands now.
In attempts to make amends, Justin, 38, took to Instagram on December 5 with an apology. “I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting people I love,” he began.
“A few weeks ago, I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son,” the “Cry Me A River” singer continued, referring to 4-year-old Silas.
“I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.”
Given Justin’s insistence that his slip-up was fueled by alcohol, the source notes that he’s “promised” Jessica, 37, that he’ll “give up drinking.” Even after the A-lister’s sincere words on social media, however, Justin is still dealing with the aftermath of his mistake on a professional level.
“Justin’s got to continue to film this movie with Alisha, but their indiscretion has become the focus of everyone’s attention. It’s a distraction,” adds the insider. “Everyone on set is very aware of what went down, and there’s a weird atmosphere.”
