Kanye West’s New Malibu Home Costs a Cool $57.3 Million

Kanye West is no stranger to owning unique properties, and now, the rapper has added another house in Malibu to his assets.

Situated right by the ocean, the house is designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, and is responsible for recognizable works such as The Oval at Benesse Art Museum Naoshima, Chichu Art Museum, and has recently revived the Bourse de Commerce in Paris to display the Pinault Collection.

Recognized for his minimal yet captivating aesthetic, Ando’s works are said to create a “Haiku effect,” using intentional empty spaces to emphasize the beauty of simplicity.

Previously owned by Richard Sachs (yes, Ashley Olsen’s ex), the building was purchased for $1.9 million in 2003, and was redone by Sachs during his time living there. West ended up purchasing the stand-out property for $57.3 million.

According to reports, the home is 3,665 square feet and features three stories. There are no images of the property’s inside, as it was purchased in an off-market deal, but according to Architectural Digest, the property features a rooftop terrace, as well as four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms.

Kanye West has always spoken about his love for architecture, and his $60 million Hidden Hills home with ex-wife Kim Kardashian previously made headlines for its unique look and minimal design, and West worked with Axel Vervoordt on the house’s interiors.

Of course, there’s also Ye’s Wyoming ranch, which he reportedly purchased for $7.7 million.

It goes without saying that the rapper has a soft spot for nice properties, but when you’re reportedly worth $1.8 billion it makes sense you’d invest in multiple places to live – especially when they’re designed by someone like Tadao Ando.
