Katsute 100 Japanese Boutique and tea rooms

Katsute 100 tea room

Japanese tea rooms

Over the weekend I needed to head to Islington, Angel for some art supplies. My favourite part of Angel is walking through the cobbled streets and passageways behind the main road. The characteristics of the Camden passageway are filled with little shops, boutiques and restaurants to explore. Along this street is Sushi Show another Japanese place to eat must, but it was Katsute 100 that caught my eye. Peeping through the windows the tea shelf cabinets and Japanese teaware can be admired from the distance. The menu on the window is great for matcha lovers, from hot, cold teas and baked goodies. There are plenty of teas to choose from, be it loose leafs or blended. Katsute 100 boasts a wonderful tearoom, served up in their traditional beautiful teaware. They also do pumpkin korroke sandwiches, salads and ice creams.

Japanese cakes and matcha lattes

The fading sounds of jazz playing in the background and dark wooden furniture is a great hideaway for peace and calm. The matcha strawberry shortcake was light, fluffy in texture both in the sponge and cream. Katsute 100 managed to make my soy matcha latte thick with foam. Something that is quite hard to achieve with soymilk. Since Katsute 100 is a tearoom they proudly display their items throughout the shop, there’s a leafy green garden at the back for warmer days.

Price-wise you are looking to spend £8 on cake and tea.

Katsute 100 has an extensive tea range and plenty of everything matcha goodies on offer.
