Wise beyond her years. Kelly Osbourne shared some words of wisdom about sobriety and addiction with a fan on August 15.
The 35-year-old shared a screenshot of a DM the user sent her in her Instagram Stories. “Dear Miss Osbourne,” the follower wrote to Kelly. “I know you have battles with [addiction] and that you have been sober for a long time now. Me myself have had the same troubles but I was just wondering, do you not drink at all? A glass of wine at dinner or a pint in the pub with friends? I miss the pub.”
“To answer this question,” the Osbournes alum wrote above the screenshot of the fan’s message. “No, I do not drink. At all. I have not had a drink in [three] years and, God willing, I never will again. I hope you stick to it. Life gets really good when you stop.”
The former reality star has been vocal about her struggle with addiction and substance abuse in the past. “I gave up on everything in my life but most of all I gave up on myself. Life on life’s terms became to much for me to handle,” Kelly revealed on Instagram in August 2019 while celebrating her first year of sobriety. “The only way I knew how to function was to self medicate and go from project to project so I never had to focus on what was really going on with me. Something had to give … and it did.”
However, the former musician previously revealed that she got more attention for her weight than her addiction. “I took more hell for being fat than I did for being an absolute raging drug addict. I will never understand that,” Kelly told Us Weekly in 2010.
It seems the starlet is on a better path overall. She confirmed her incredible 85-pound weight loss on August 3, and a few days later, she revealed she is currently a size 26. “Yes, I’m bragging because I worked hard and it feels good!!” Kelly gushed over a Neiman Marcus clothing tag on her Instagram Stories at the time.
Unsurprisingly, the U.K. native — who has been working on her weight loss since joining Dancing With the Stars in 2009 — “feels like a new person” after embracing a vegan diet and exercise to slim down, an insider exclusively told Life & Style.
Congrats all around, Kelly!
