So you follow the fashion of the moment. Do remember to complement with your makeup as well. Here, we give you the top beauty tips that are trending right now.
Dewy Skin
A good skin base means your makeup can go on smoothly. Prep your skin with the Jurlique Radiance Renewal 28 Day Programme. For the first 14 days, you use one lightweight, antioxidant-rich lotion that gently exfoliates to help even skin tone and texture, and assist with renewal of your skin. The second 14 days, you use a luxurious cream that promises to smooth, protects and deeply replenishes your skin to bring it back to optimum vitality. Or if you have good skin to begin with, try a good highlight powder. For example, this Guerlain Météorites Gold Pearl box of white, yellow, pink and champagne powder balls.
Hair Accessories
At many of the shows, designers favoured natural-looking hair on the models. Lots of relaxed textured flyaway hair that were accessorised with leather hair ties at Loewe, woven straw hairbands at Delpozo, flora tiaras at Dolce and Gabbana, decorative gold coin barattes at Versace while Temperley London and Lanvin showed silk scarves. Cherry Lips
Mostly paired with barely-there eye makeup and glowing skin. Look to examples from Max Mara, Blumarine and Chanel while Helmut Lang and Badgley Mischka went bold. A good bet to go bold is with this Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in First Light.
Cat Eyes
Almost every designer has one form or another of this eye trend. The classic wing tip has some serious competition from quirky and graphic takes from the likes of Erdem’s edgy strikes, Eudon Choi’s brushstroke squiggles, Versus by Versace ’s graphic, Marc Jacobs’ Cleopatra-inspired and Tom Ford’s thick and bold lines. We recommend Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer, a gel pot eyeliner in a crayon that delivers intense colour and 12-hour waterproof wear and amazing glide in satin finish.
A close runner-up eye makeup goes to Dior and Cushnie et Ochs for their clumpy mascara-ed eyes. To create the clumpy look, apply one coat of the Dior Maximizer 3D primer and at least 5 or 6 coats of the black Diorshow Pump ‘n’ Volume, and pinching the lashes together before it dries. Good luck!
Glitter Babies
It is all about the sparkle. From glitter on cheeks and lips, to stick-on rhinestones on nail art and eyelids. Dries Van Noten did jewel-encrusted around-the-eye blings while Jeremy Scott only emphasised the lower eye with crystals. Francesco Scognamiglio added metallic sequins onto glitter eyeshadow while Fendi added glitter onto the lips.
Colour Pop
The result is almost kid-like; makeup artists are experimenting with slashes of solid bold luminous colours onto eyelids. Look no further than House of Holland’s punch of powder blue, Cividini for neon orange, Marni for a navy punch and Missoni for a dollop of pastel mauve. Valentino continued this look for the Haute Couture collection. Try the YSL Couture Palette Collector of acid brights.
