Interesting switch! Kim Kardashian made a last-minute change to her 2019 Emmys look and it actually made a huge difference. She wowed at the event in a body-hugging, black velvet Vivienne Westwood gown and was one of the best dressed of the night. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared a few behind-the-scenes photos of herself getting ready on Instagram and revealed that she almost added a pop of color with an emerald stone necklace.
The 38-year-old mixed in a bit of personality to the classy and simple dress by layering a few icy diamond necklaces with it. The photos that she shared of herself getting ready showed an extra choker that displayed a large green stone in the middle. Although she was wearing it in a few of the snapshots, she obviously opted to take it off before walking the red carpet on September 22 and it was also nowhere to be found when she took the stage to present for Best Reality TV Show Competition with her sister Kendall Jenner.
While the extra piece of jewelry was a funky touch, we can’t help but think she made the right decision. Her diamond-encrusted jewelry really sparkled against the dark and luxurious fabric of her dress.
The future lawyer teased her ensemble on Twitter before stepping out on the red carpet. “I’ve been to the Emmy’s twice. But this year I am presenting!” she wrote. “I’ve worn white every time I’ve been to The Emmy’s. I’m breaking tradition this time.” The A-lister definitely didn’t disappoint.
Kendall, 23, also rocked a very high-fashion look for the evening. The model wore a flower-patterned Richard Quinn ballgown, which featured a leather long-sleeved bodysuit underneath. To keep all the focus on her unusual dress, the brunette beauty kept her hair in a tight bun with simple jewelry. The runway maven is back to her normal hair color after going blonde for Milan fashion week. Although we miss her light locks, there’s no denying that dark hair fits Kendall perfectly.
The ladies were an obvious choice to present for the reality TV category — despite some fans claiming that the pair was laughed at while on stage. “Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves,” Kim said on stage while Kendall added, “Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted.”
Kim and Kendall served major ~lewks~ for the big night and we’re here for it.
