Whisky is a popular spirit. There are several types of whiskies, but the four most popular are: Bourbon (American Whiskey), Canadian Whisky, Irish Whiskey, and Scotch (Scottish Whisky). Just like how Champagne can only be called “Champagne” if it comes from the French region, laws require anything that is going to be called “Scotch” be distilled in Scotland and matured for at least three years in Spanish or American oak casks. Scotch whiskies are divided into five main regions: Campbellton, Highland/The Islands, Islay, Lowland, and Speyside. My favorite King of Whisky – and signature drink – is Macallan 18 Years Old. This $140 a bottle classic is a must-try for any savionaire who wants to get introduced to the perfect Scotch.
