Kranti Prakash Jha Bollywood actor shot to fame in 2016 with his character of Santosh Lal in the Indian biographical sports film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. The actor again became the highlight of his powerful performance in Batla House. In a quick chat with TMM, the actor talks about his short yet effective character, his aspirations and everything that matters to him.
Your recent hit ‘Batla House’ made people notice your acting. What is the best compliment you have received so far?
People said that my bucktooth is looking very hot. The best compliment which I got was that they couldn’t see Kranti Prakash Jha in the film, they could see the character and that is something which is a very big compliment for an actor. Though I did not have many dialogues in the film, still people noticed me and felt my presence.
You almost had no dialogues in the film. Any comment.
I would have loved to have more dialogues in the film. Actually I had more dialogues but those scenes were cut. But everyone does love to have that one scene in the film which is remembered by the audience, so without much dialogues, I had that one scene. I guess this one performance, might open a new gateway of success for me.
What kind of roles you are looking for?
Kranti Prakash Jha, says that I am looking for a biopic because it really excites me a lot. In fact, anything which excites me as an actor or a performer lets it be negative or positive I would like to do. I just want to do good work with good production houses. I don’t mind doing two scenes in a film but those two scenes should be memorable.
For newcomers, perfect presentation and correct lobbying is the way to enter the big game. How do you handle it?
I have heard ‘Jo Dikhta Hai Woh Bikta Hai’, so definitely I believe in that and I have also started learning it. I believe in my talent, but it is just to satisfy my own-self to showcase that talent. It’s basically an art of how to present your talent. Talking about lobbying, I lobby with my god who provides everything to me.
In Bollywood, till you don’t make it big, decent money doesn’t flow in. How to plan it right and manage?
I absolutely agree with this thing. Till the time you don’t get that one role, you don’t get the amount. But till now somehow I have been managing, I don’t know how I have managed for so many years but somehow I have done it. If you have a plan B that’s great, because you have other things in life as well, so you should secure yourself financially.
In terms of style sense, who is your favorite in the industry?
Among men, Amitabh Bachchan’s (Ji) style sense is impeccable. Apart from that Ranveer Singh is quite quirky with his sense of styling. In actresses, I feel Alia, Katrina and Sara Ali Khan especially, have a unique sense of styling and the way they carry themselves.
Who is your inspiration in Bollywood in terms of acting and why?
With no second thought its Amitabh Bachchan (Ji). I have grown up seeing his work along with Naseeruddin Shah and Manoj Bajpayee later. If I talk about the new ones, Ranbir Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui are amazing actors, their work gives me the energy to push myself.
To become a successful actor, is it important to have six-pack abs?
For any actor, fitness is very important. If your role is demanding six-pack abs then go for it. I personally feel that you should be fit. At the professional front, I think anything which role demands one should go for it, I have also done it. Kranti Prakash Jha said.
Would you go full monty in the film if the script demands?
I have no idea, it completely depends on the script. When that time comes, I will see what I can do. I will have to ask my mother I guess. (winks)
How do you unwind yourself?
I go for a run, or I do yoga. I also love reading books in Hindi and English. At times, I indulge in music and cook too.
