Kye x Shu Uemura Channel Seoul

If you thought Kye was yet another Korean streetwear brand, think again. The high-end fashion label is the brainchild of Kathleen Kye, an American born, Seoul-raised designer, and has been a hit amongst fashion-savvy Seoulites and many a K-pop star. This year, the brand lends its motifs to Japanese cosmetics giant Shu Uemura for a limited-edition collaboration. No stranger to collaborations in the past, the new team up sees the designer and make-up brand unveil a 24-piece makeup and haircare collection.

The collection brings some of Shu Uemura’s classics and several new products to the Spring collection. The packaging works as the canvas for Kye’s trademark hand-drawn doodles, where each represent a quintessential aspect of South Korean culture. There is a coffee cup to represent Seoul’s obsession with coffee, the hibiscus, the country’s national flower and an alarm clock at 5.10 a.m.to represent the time of Seoul Metro’s first train.

Some of the products that receive the bold Kye treatment include the Fresh Cushion Blush, the Sheer Color Balm and classic cleansing oils along with three kinds of Shu Uemura Art of Hair shampoos. A K-Pop look is not complete without the bold brows — they are the curtains to the soul. Dedicated to achieving the neatly shaped, bold brows are three products named the “Brow: Palette”, a brow shadow; “Brow:Sword”, an eyebrow pencil and “Eyebrow Manicure”, a colored brow mascara. All products are available in a set of kooky colors to help you achieve that Selca-worthy look.
