Le Méridien Hamburg
Review of the €1.200 Prestige Lake Suite
September 2020
Located right by the Alster Lake in Hamburg, Le Méridien is a 5-star design hotel, that has a lot to offer their guests. We stayed a few days in their most exclusive suite – the Prestige Lake Suite. It’s 113 sqm / 1216 sqft with a huge balcony, lots of designer furniture and beautiful details. It’s hard not to be impressed by this one.
The living room is the heart of the suite. Elegant, spacious, and with two exits to the balcony.
The brand Le Méridien is comprised of +100 hotels worldwide and is a part of Marriott International (see the list of hotel brands below). With great locations in Paris, New York, Rome, Monaco or exotic destinations like Maldives or Bora Bora (just to name a few), you will find Le Méridien pretty much all the places you dream of visiting.
Just a short teaser. You will find the video review further below in the article and on our Youtube channel.
Though we were quite unlucky with the weather in Hamburg during our stay, we could still enjoy the views over the Alster Lake from the outside, since the balcony is partially covered. Around 18 meters long and with 4 access points from the suite – that’s just incredible!
We caught the only 2 minutes of sunlight during the entire day. Just enough time to rush to the balcony for a couple of photos and to enjoy the view.
The bedroom and dressing area is both spacious and practical. If needed, you can separate the sleeping area using the curtain.
Another view of the living room. There’s lots of space if you want to have some guest over. No matter where you are, you have panoramic views of the Alster Lake.
The luxurious bathroom, with a deep soaking tub, Italian shower, double sinks, TV in the mirror, and bath amenities from (MALIN+GOETZ) – impressive!
Luckily we had time to do a quick photoshoot as well.
New shoes always brings out a smile.

Time for the verdict. We use the same scoring system for all of our stays. Sometimes we pay for the suite ourselves, sometimes we get a complimentary upgrade. Sometimes we even get the stay for free. However, it makes no difference regarding the scores. They reflect our honest opinions – we are not influenced in any way by the hotel or other stakeholders.
The good
The layout of the suite is both impressive and practical. It’s possible to have some privacy in the bathroom or bed, while others are socializing in the living room. No matter where you are, you can open up to the balcony and enjoy the views and the fresh air.
The amenities are great both inside the suite and in the hotel in general. Gym/fitness, spa with a large pool, restaurant, bar, Starbucks coffee at the café by the entrance, complimentary boat ride to the city center, and great meeting/conference facilities. There’s really not much to complain about.
The view is world-class. The Alster Lake is gorgeous and you can enjoy unspoiled views anywhere in the suite. If you are booking this suite to score some extra points with your partner, the view is guaranteed to do the trick!
The less good
There’s really not much to complain about. However, the atmosphere and the level of details inside the hotel is not on the same level as The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Peninsula, Aman, or other high-end luxury hotel brands. There is a bit of noise from the street outside, but you only hear it when you open the windows or walk out on the balcony.
Conclusion
If you’ve read / seen some of the other suite reviews, you probably know how we rate the suites / hotels we stay in. Some of the scores refer only to the suite, some only to the hotel, and some scores refer to both. Add them all together, and you have the combined Suite Life score of the stay.
All elements are rated from 1-100 points. Please see the guideline below.
The Prestige Lake Suite at Le Méridien in Hamburg was overall a fantastic experience, and we can highly recommend it. Especially if you are several couples traveling, the suite is a great place to hang out before you head out and discover the city.
Thank you very much for reading. If you have any ideas, suggestions or know a great upcoming hotel (or maybe a hidden gem somewhere), please reach out to us on social media. We would very much like to hear from you.
The next suite review is worth waiting for, so don’t forget to bookmark this page. We are visiting one of the best hotels in Germany – The Fontenay and staying in a suite that almost breaks our score chart.
Until then – take care and stay safe!
