Riverdale star Lili Reinhart gave advice to others after publicly coming out as bisexual. “Just go for it,” the actress encouraged while praising the work and support of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“It’s actually an easy thing to do when the LGBTQ community is very helpful,” the Chemical Hearts star, 23, explained to TMZ after having dinner with her dad in Los Angeles on August 9.
Lili is here for the media to start portraying more openly gay, bisexual and queer characters. “It’s time to show what the real world looks like, even on Disney Channel,” the Hustlers actress added.
While the Ohio native acknowledged that coming out can be a difficult thing, she is optimistic “the world is hopefully turning in that direction” where sexuality is “not such a taboo” topic. “The more it’s seen in media, the better for kids to feel like they can come out into the world,” she said. “There’s a lot of loving people out there, so hopefully, they’re embraced in their community.”
All in all, Lili said, “I’m gonna support you,” to anyone who has any reservations about coming out.
The Miss Stevens actress came out as bisexual on June 3 in a post about how she’s supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. “Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join,” Lili wrote on her Instagram Story with details about the West Hollywood protest.
In addition to her activism and hectic work schedule, Lili also has a book of poems called Swimming Lessons releasing on September 29. She exclusively told Life & Style in October 2019 that writing is “definitely” a form of self-care, whether it’s about herself or others.
“I’m kind of calling the book a work of fiction more so than just, ‘This is all of my life and my experiences’ because to be honest, I find a lot of inspiration from other people and people that I don’t know and music, especially,” Lili explained about her first book. “You know, I can create a scenario in my head from a mood, so it kind of just goes on a journey from there. It’s not necessarily all experiences that I’ve been through.”
Keep doing you, Lili!
