Living Life LA Style Sunny Leone

Sunny LeoneIn the past few months that she shifted to her Los Angeles home with her husband, Daniel Webber, and kids Nisha, Asher, and Noah, Sunny Leone has been giving her fans a chance to see what life is like for her out there. From attempting new workouts to going to the zoo with her children, or just hanging out by the poolside, the actress is living it up in the California city. “We have a different sense of freedom here. Children get to be outdoors. We get to be outdoors. It’s wonderful,” she says. With no house help, it’s just the five of them in the beautiful space they have created in LA. The actress, who is also the owner of StarStruck cosmetics, told TMM she is looking forward to being back in Mumbai soon. Excerpts from a conversation with our gorgeous cover girl.

Are your kids happy that they have both parents to themselves all the time?
Oh yes, my children are definitely so happy that they have us to themselves. But here they have started school, so we were pleasantly surprised that they adjusted back into normal classrooms with other children. Of course, precautions are being taken at the school with very limited class sizes. So, it’s very nice for them and I believe that they are happy and we are very happy that we can provide for them. I know it’s going to be very difficult for us when Sunny Leoneall of us to separate and go back to work and I guess that’s right around the corner.

Your prankster side has certainly come out these days, from pretending to have cut your finger to pranking Daniel with a water balloon. Were you always a prankster? And what does Daniel think of being on the receiving end most of the times?
I have always loved pranks. I have been a prankster all through my life. But finding someone to play pranks on who is going to take it in a good spirit, that’s hard to find. And, most of the times, Daniel thinks it’s pretty funny. I make it up to him afterwards so that he’s not mad at me. He gives me a hard time around saying that I give him a hard time doing all these crazy things. But, he takes it all in good spirit.

How was it to celebrate your birthday with friends and family there? How different was it from your birthdays spent in Mumbai?
I didn’t get to really celebrate because we had just come here and we were finishing up our quarantine time. Our friends just came out, honked the car and said happy birthday from out there which was really nice. So, I think my birthday this year was like anybody else’s out there – pretty lame because we are all victims of Coronavirus birthday. And. I’m Sunny Leonehoping that it’s going to end very soon and we are all able to go back to the new normal life. Usually, on my birthdays I’m working. So, if I’m working on my birthday, it is the best gift ever.

What’s the one thing you miss most about being in Mumbai? Do the kids ask about their friends back in Mumbai?
Yes, I do miss Mumbai a lot and I can’t wait to come back. I don’t think there’s one thing that I miss the most about it. It’s just everything, from the culture, to the people, the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle, being able to watch my children grow and this environment that we have created there which is amazing. Our dog is there, so they ask about our dog all the time and they recall certain things. One day, one of my sons said that the black guitar that he loves to play with is in his other home. It’s truly nice to see the impact India has on them.

It’s been a little over two years for your makeup brand Starstruck by Sunny Leone. How has this journey been as an entrepreneur? How challenging has it been?
Starting StarStruck was an absolutely amazing process. From creating to testing everything, box art and logos and talking about what we want to create next – it’s been such an amazing journey. I’ve actually been testing a lot of things here in the Sunny LeoneUS and when we go back to India in a couple of days with my husband, we are going to start all these different products that have been approved. We are also creating a few more things considering that we have to wear masks – having make up that stays on your face which makes you feel good.  And of course, it was very challenging. Coronavirus is one of our largest speed bumps. But I love the fact that people are so supportive and are still buying our products.

What are the future plans with the brand? Are you planning on expanding it?
The future plan is to expand. I have approved a large list of items to release and now that manufacturing companies are opening to start going again, we are going to be like a steam engine pushing forward. I have chosen the most amazing products and I hope everyone loves them.

You have also been a part of regional cinema in recent years. How has that experience been? Any particular regional cinema you are keen on exploring?
I love working in different parts of the country and anytime that I have to learn a new song that is not in the language that I understand, it’s challenging but I feel like this work is really good because you make sure to understand every single word and every single meaning. So, it’s a different type of challenge but it’s also a lot of fun. I can’t wait to be back and start shooting again.

Your book Sweet Dreams was so well received in 2016. Are you planning another book anytime soon? How would you rate yourself as a writer?
Sunny LeoneNo. I’m not planning to write another book anytime soon. I would rate myself as not so great as a writer because it’s not the skill that I grew up aspiring for. It was something that was presented to me and proved to be a lot more difficult. My respect to all the writers out there and to their hard work because it’s not easy.

Having done so much as an actor and entrepreneur, is there any cause or project close to your heart that you want to focus on in the coming years?
A cause or project that I would love to work for would be helping more children in our area and helping them individually or finding a non-profit company that actually helps the people out, which is something that I think is hard to find. I would do anything for them because they didn’t have a choice. So yes, babies and also animals. They don’t have a voice, so we should protect them.

Fast Track

Your favourite travel destination: Dubai

Your go-to person for any kind of advice: My husband, Daniel

Your three make-up essentials: Lip gloss, mascara, concealer

Your current favourite StarStruck colour shade:  Cherry Balm, but my go-to colour is Sugar Plum or Baby Doll

Your favourite thing to do with the kids: Play with them, watch them play, look at the things that they are interested in.

Fill in the blank: I’m a XXXX cook.
I am a good cook. At least my children like it. Even if they don’t like it, they have to anyway finish what’s on their plate.

Your favourite comfort food: Mexican

One great tip to have and maintain glowing skin like yours: What you put in, is what you get. Currently, it’s aloe vera. Just take it off the plant, cut it open and smash in on your face.

The title of your autobiography would be: I have no idea. Maybe someone could give me a clue.
