Living The Dreams: Divija Gambhir

Meet Divija Gambhir, Miss India Multinational 2021, Glamanand Supermodel India, who is living the dream of her mother as a pageant winner and aims to bring more glory to India in the years to come. For Divija, it is all about competing with her inner self and achieving her dreams. Elated about her recent win, Divija talks to TMM about her journey and much more.

How and when did modeling happen to you?
I am living the dream of my mom, who always wanted me to see on the ramp and represent India. It all started when Sushmita Sen brought glory to India and my mom was mesmerized with her success and that is when she told me, “I want to see you there”. Her words got imprinted on my mind and ever since then I started dreaming of being where I am, but the actual journey began in 2019 after my transformation.

What makes an individual a ‘good model’?
The journey of being a good model begins with self-acceptance, and this self-acceptance also includes all the flaws. Also, a good model is someone who competes with her inner self to be a better version of herself tomorrow.

Share a glimpse of what all went into preparation for Glamanand Supermodel India.
I think it is just the beginning and I have a long way to go. Talking about the journey I feel I gave it all. From 2 am ramp walk practice to regular dermatologist visits, I made sure I did everything to keep it going. Every day at night I used to sit with my dad to update my current affair knowledge and used to seek help from my friends for mock PI rounds. And at the end, when the crown was awarded, at that moment I felt that all my hard work finally paid off.

For every model, being fit is very important. What is your fitness routine?
From being fat to fit, I can definitely say that physical fitness surely boosts your confidence level. From 80 to 52, my weight loss journey has taught me a lot. I have learnt that it is important to have a balanced diet to live a healthy life. At present, I make sure that I eat everything, but in a controlled manner. Apart from that gymming, running, long walk, poles dancing and regular dancing keeps me fit and energetic.

One good thing and one bad thing about being a model.
The best thing in my opinion is that it promotes fitness and holistic well-being. And one unpleasant thing is that it jumbles up your sleep cycle, thanks to the odd call time of shoots. I am someone who loves her 8-9 hours of sleep, so for me, at times it becomes a little difficult to manage those odd call times of shoots.

Modeling calls for hectic work hours. How do you create a balance between your work and personal life?
It’s not just for the modeling industry; I feel it is important in every profession that you learn the art of balancing work-life. For me, the best way to do so is by spending time with my family, friends, and loved ones. It not only refreshes my mind but rejuvenates me inside and that ultimately reflects on my skin as well. (laughs)

When it comes to your beauty regime, one desi nuskha you swear by and why?
To be frank, I have grown up using home remedies for my skin and that’s the reason till date, before opting for any cosmetic brand, I prefer using home remedies. My lips are pretty sensitive and I have been using homemade ghee to keep them nourished and moisturized for a long time. So, that’s one desi nuskha I swear by and I always suggest the same to others, because it hydrates the skin and also removes dead cells and flaky skin.

What are your future plans in the modeling industry?
As an individual, I am very focused and my next target is to bring Miss Multinational 2022 crown home and for that, I have already started preparing myself. Apart from that, I want to see myself on the silver screen in near future and live my dream of acting and enact different characters.
