This year’s London restaurant festival, I again only visited two places this year, the OXO tower was a fun experience to dine. Oddly when I was booking for a table during the weekday most of the slots were crossed off, when I arrived there was hardly anyone at the restaurant.
Located on the south bank of the Thames along the river, on the 8th floor, and a spectacular view of the city. This place was perfect for a catch up with the bestie over lunch. Serving pan-Asian and modern British cuisine. The OXO tower is very modern chic. Arriving early, we were seated to our table, and were told we only have a strict 2-hour limit for dining. (No pressure there)
We were offered fresh baguettes and butter before being presented with the menu.
The special LRF menu had a 2 course on offer; I went for the grilled salmon, lemon oil mash, roasted fennal, and salsa.
My friend opted for the soya grazed cornfed chicken, egg noodles and black bean dressing.
The food did a long while to come, but we were impressed with the beautiful presentation of the food, and the taste. I was satisfied with my salmon cooked to melt in my mouth, and the combination of salsa, roasted fennel and mash.
My friend loved the chicken, but was let down by the noodles, saying it was weird for her liking.
As we was a little hungry we ordered a extra side of new potatoes.
We swiftly moved on to desserts and I choose the chocolate cake with clotted cream and caramel. This dessert was to die for, I thought it would be rich but it was perfection and happily devoured and savoured every spoon.
My friend had the blackcurrant cake with vanilla ice cream.
