Broadway is a siren for aspiring actors and playwrights around-the-world. “If you can make it here you can make it anywhere,” crooned Frank Sinatra.
Quite the opposite, Jim Strong has already made it.
Considered one of the top luxury travel agents in the World, Dallas-based Strong serves on the Advisory Boards of Travel + Leisure Magazine, Forbes Traveler 400, Four Seasons Hotels Travel Partners Council, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Ritz-Carlton President’s Inner Circle, Park Hyatt Leadership Forum, Sofitel Hotels & Resorts, Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts and American Society of Traveler Agents Corporate Advisory Council. He is also the former Chairman of the Virtuoso Hotels & Resorts Selection Committee.
The Dorchester Collection CEO Christopher Cowdray speaking of Strong said, “I can’t think of anyone better qualified to help people fulfill their passion for travel.”
In addition to selling luxury travel experiences to elite travelers and advising his suppliers, Strong is an author having written two books in a series he calls “Craving for Travel.”
Starting January 9, 2014 for a one-month run at the Off Broadway Peter J. Sharp Theatre Strong will see if he can conquer the bright lights. His play “Craving for Travel” is a two-actor, 30 character comedy of “international proportions.” Gary and Joanne are former spouses and rival travel agents each competing for a top industry award. Seeking to win they “tackle any request, no matter how impossible and any client, no matter how unreasonable.”
For elite travelers the play sounds like a window into the type of the experiences they miss out on if they have a good travel agent and fly by private jet. For Strong, perhaps after books and Broadway, Hollywood is on his itinerary. Needless to say if his next move is the West Coast, he won’t need any help booking his hotel suite.
