Meet Prateek Jain, Mr. World India 2014, an investment banker by profession and a fitness lover at heart. His love for sports and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) made him realize the value of a healthy body at an early age and since then there has been no looking back. In a free-wheeling conversation with TMM, he talked his man-tastic side and much more. Excerpts:
What passion means to you?
Passion is something I can never pass by. It’s something that I will continue doing even if I become super rich. Passion is that fire that keeps my soul warm and fills my heart with joy.
How do you define success?
Success is about having everything, except regrets. Success is like a medal for your hard work and sacrifices. It’s important to achieve success, but it’s critical to make through without doing any harm to others. Competition should always be healthy; otherwise, the taste of victory is bitter.
How has life changed after the fame and money poured in?
Well, I moved into a better apartment, I started living a better lifestyle. The best part about having fame and money is that I got to do good things on a bigger scale. Now, I can use my status to draw people’s attention to the need of others. And, of course, I actively use it to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
What are your plans to utilize this fame and opportunity?
I’m going to multiply it all and take more advantage with a motive to be y best version and then work for the society.
Is this space you always wanted to be in, or you had some other plans for life?
Yes, this is the place I wanted to be, and yes, I have more plans. My current stage in life is a step on a long road that I’m going to walk till the end. Once I achieve my current goals, I’ll celebrate, and then set new ones, and when I will achieve those, I’ll celebrate and set new ones, again. It’s an endless process.
Do you get overwhelmed by praise? And how do you handle your fan base?
Praise is a stimulus. It motivates me to keep myself up to the mark. I have titles, I have a status, I need to correspond to all that. As for the fans, well, I have a couple of Facebook and Instagram pages especially for them, and I make sure they never have to wait long for fresh photos.
How do you view love in life?
I love to be loved and that’s the reason I call myself a love machine. (winks)
How do you wish to promote fitness in India?
It is necessary to make people aware of the right food, nutrients and how they together work for the body. Especially, youths need to understand the value of a healthy body and why monitoring your habit is inevitable. It’s all about creating awareness.
Being a pageant winner, what’s your take on men’s grooming and personality development?
I believe that we are attracted to a soul rather than to an outer look. But isn’t it so much more enjoyable to love a beautiful soul when it’s beautifully wrapped? As for the personality development, I think everyone should aspire to be the best version of himself/herself.
