Chef Michael White’s fine-dining Italian seafood restaurant is located just near Central Park South and offers fresh cuisine that transports you to Italy. White is originally from a small town in Wisconsin but trained in Imola, Italy for seven years learning in-depth Italian cooking techniques. His culinary studies also have taken him to Paris and the South of France before he relocated to New York. In 2009, he opened Marea, which was awarded two Michelin stars. White’s midwestern hospitality transcends everything he does — Marea is an approachable dining experience focused less on how you dress and how fancy the space is, but instead food is the highlight. No matter who you are or what you do, Marea welcomes you with open arms. The buzzy restaurant is still exceptionally modern and chic, with modern leather seating, wonderful art and a sexy, ambient-lit bar that sets the mood for the night. The restaurant delivers a unique sense of Italian culture and exquisite service. He uses seafood in nearly every dish, including his most famous: Fusilli with red wine-braised octopus and bone marrow. Marea has been so successful that White even opened up another restaurant in Dubai.
