MARTIN GEH
Managing Director, Google Asia Pacific Hardware Partnerships, and foodie
Your idea of perfect happiness?
Penang char kway teow, extra-spicy, with a duck egg, and a bottle of 1947 Chateau Cheval Blanc.
Your greatest fear?
To not know how much God loves me.
Greatest achievement?
Convincing my wife Kathryn to marry me. I proposed within 100 days, so I wasn’t exactly confident. Fortunately, she said yes.
What is your most marked characteristic?
It’s either my love of food or my head of salt-and-pepper hair. I’m going to go with the hair, which is more salt than pepper now.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
A world without red wine, movies, music and beauty.
Your real-life heroes?
My tennis friends who make me feel younger and faster than I really am (sorry guys).
Your hero of fiction?
Bryan Mills, the father in the movie Taken, a man with a special set of skills. Hey, when you have as many daughters as I have, you will understand.
What qualities should a gentleman possess?
Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one really cares.
What qualities should a lady possess?
Human programming skills. Let’s face it, most guys are programmable, and those who aren’t, well, maybe you shouldn’t date them.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My voice. I’ve always wanted a deep and grainy voice, something between James Earl Jones and Harrison Ford.
Which superpower do you want?
The wisdom of Solomon. Look at his life, who wouldn’t want that?
What have your children taught you?
The value of conversation.
The world’s biggest con?
The healthcare industry.
You need to serve a good meal to save your life. What would it be?
It’s so complicated these days! Vegan? Pescetarian? Fruitarian? Atkins? Ketogenic? Paleo? I’d start with something with avocados, followed by seared salmon belly, crispy pork belly with green sambal, and duck confit briyani rice.
Which world leader do you identify with?
World leaders are distinctly unappealing to me. Is Stan Lee a world leader? I might choose him!
