Maureens Pie & Mash
You may have read about my love for Pie & Mash over and over again on my site, but it’s something that I indulge when I’m out and about in East London. This time round I review Maureens Pie & Mash in Poplar Chrisp Street Market, I’m a regular at Eastenders Pie & Mash also in the same area. What I love about these pie and mash shops is that you will usually find they are family run. The same people will always be on till and serve you.
It was the weekend of Price Harry & Megan Markle wedding, bunting placed above the counters. Maureens was buzzing with people, families, couples, OAPS coming in and out for some piece of the action.
Menu prices
Interior is quite typical for pie and mash shops, white tiled walls. Tables with plastic chairs attached, giving the school dinner vibes. Punters queue lines are to the outside of the front door, Maureens proven to be very popular to the masses.
Eat in menu is simple 1 pie, mash & liquor sets you back to £3, an excellent choice of cheap eats in London. there is also steak pies, salt beef dinner, sausages and sandwiches are available. Generous portions of mash and a big pool of liquor, a warm beef pie will fill you up.
It’s one of the best pies around in London, great pie crusts with minced beef and savoury gravy, mash is scrapped to the side of the pie and the liquor is dark green almost minty flavour. Even without smothering my food with chilli vinegar, the meat and liquor is tasty.
