During kikki.K’s fun Christmas workshop (held at the label’s Cityplaza shop in Quarry Bay earlier this month) we were absolutely thrilled when the super-friendly (and super-organised) founder and creative director of kikki.K, Kristina Karlsson, payed us a surprise visit. In our one-on-one chat, Karlsson, gave us the scoop on some of her most cherished kikki.K products and told us how to get organised for Christmas. (Start planning early, folks.)
kikki.K operates an online store at https://www.kikki-k.com (shipping worldwide) and a number of stand-alone stores around the globe.
How did you come up with the name kikki.K?
It’s actually my [childhood] nickname. Often the name Kristina becomes Kikki in Sweden, and then K is for my last name, Karlsson.
What’s your favourite kikki.K item at the moment?
The dream book. I think if everyone can start dreaming about what they want to do and have their dream life, they will love life.
Give us some organisation tips for the office.
At the end of each day, take 10 minutes to put everything back in its place. Ten minutes will save you so much time in the morning. I tend to have a very clear desk with inspiring things like quotes and flowers. I also have storage boxes and a home for everything.
What kikki.K items are always in your bag?
I always have my life journal because I use that for when I cut things out or for reading. I also have my favourite metal rollerball gold pen and a few cards in my bag because I travel a lot and I go to a lot of meetings, so if I’m early I always write a card to someone or a thank you card. If I’m at home, I’ll always have my planner with me. That helps me because I categorise all of my meetings and everything else. I have my key ring monogrammed from kikki.K, a pencil case, my business cards and the drink more water glass bottle.
What are the must-have items for travelling?
A leather travel wallet so you can put all of your things in it. Have a pencil case so all of your bits and pieces are in one place, like your pens and earplugs. These [transparent travel pouches] are great because you can see what you have in there. I have a few of these when I travel. If you’re travelling somewhere new, then have a travel journal with you. It’s a really good way to capture memories.
How do you have an organised Christmas?
One thing that I always do to is go to a Christmas workshop [at kikki.K]. That just gets you so inspired because if you start early then you actually have the time to plan. There’s nothing worse in my view then last-minute organising. If you can start early then use the My Christmas Organizer book. Put it in your bag so you can add to it and start thinking about it.
