You may have suddenly seen a stream of images of fluffy clouds of cotton candy wrapped around ice-cream on social media. The place behind it a newly opened dessert parlor Milk Train cafe in Covent Garden. The café itself is dreamy and endless queues going around the corner of the street for everyone trying to capture an image of their sugary icy combo goodness by their shop window.
The Japanese inspired café keeps it simple with three base flavours. Vanilla, matcha green tea, and hojicha you can add heaps of extras on top or try one of Milk Train café combos. There’s also sundaes and shaved ice on the menu.
I went for the traditional hojicha flavour combo with the added extra of £1 for the cotton candy (candy floss) wrapped around the ice cream.
It was one of the messiest ice-creams I ever had with sauce dripping onto my hand and ice cream starting to melt as soon as it was handed to me, but I had to capture the ice cream on the phone and camera.
The ice cream is simply palate perfect blend of the sweetness of the hojicha, chocolate sauce, crumbled chocolate pieces, popcorn, panda biscuits bites. So satisfying on a hot summers day, £5.95 may seem a little steep but it’s worth trying.
