YTL Hotels hosted a preview of its upcoming property, the seven-acre Monkey Island Estate, which is located in the same Berkshire, UK village as Michelin-starred legends The Fat Duck and Waterside Inn. During a recent evening event held at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, Executive Director of YTL Hotels Dato’ Mark Yeoh and General Manager of Monkey Island Estate Lee Kelly introduced the new boutique hotel in Bray-on-Thames, situated on a sliver-shaped island in the River Thames that was first recorded as the site of a fishing spot built by monks in the Middle Ages.
Drone footage of the hotel grounds screened before dinner and mood boards compiled by New York-based Champalimaud Design gave the approximately 50 guests an exclusive look at the estate’s surroundings, its Grade I listed pavilions and its 27 guest rooms, three suites and six residences. Monkey Island Estate’s Executive Chef William Hemming flew in specially to present a six-course wine-pairing menu that comprised his interpretations of classic British cuisine. And the evening ended with whiskies and cheeses from Bath, Bray, London and Edinburgh — flown in personally by Dato’ Mark Yeoh.
