A fossilized Tyrannosaurus Rex has sold at auction for $31.85 million, making it the most expensive dinosaur fossil ever sold.

Nicknamed Stan in recognition of the amateur paleontologist Stan Sacrison, who found it in 1987, it is one of only 50 T. Rex fossils ever discovered.
In extraordinary condition, the fossil is believed to be 67-million years old.
The auction at Christie’s, was hoped to climb to $8million, but an anonymous telephone bidder buyer pushed the final price to the astonishing record price.
It is one of the most complete skeletal fossils ever found, consisting of 188 bones, including its head in pristine condition and almost 11-inch long teeth.
