Zouk is settling into its new home in the heart of Clarke Quay, and is welcoming guests with arms wide open. The nightlife venue that stands as an institution in Singapore’s music scene recently launched its fourth concept that joins the Zouk complex. Capital, which sits on the second floor of the venue, caters to working professionals and guests who crave a space to simply unwind and enjoy some of the finer things in life.
With a space that spans 640 square meters and the ability to hold 540 guests, Capital caters to various crowds with its four zones: the island bar, the whisky bar, cigar room and plush seating area. The cool and sophisticated atmosphere begins from the moment you ascend up the dimly lit stairwell. From the main entrance, begins an interior that is rich in detail and texture. With the design studio Charnley Stadworth behind the understated sense of luxury that fills the interior, Capital oozes modernity and exclusivity.
The colour palette is fairly simple, with stone, brass and dark-toned finishes surrounding the space. Accompanying this palette, are plush seats, gold rimmed marble tables and high stools with brass details. Decorating the interior are contemporary artworks created by artists from around the region, curated by The Artling. However, there are also commissioned works that help reflect the individuality of each zone. Over at the island bar, is a luminous ceiling that was designed by Japanese artist Tetsuya Toshima that creates a feeling of being submerged in a nautical environment.
Over at the whisky bar, which can be found in a U-shaped corner of the space, are fictional flora and fauna that serve as interesting decorative pieces. The private cigar room that is also known as ‘The Cured Leaf’ boasts a modern twist with contemporary pieces such as a colourful and paint-splattered deer head showpiece, ‘Rainbow Deer’ by Indonesian sculptor Abdi Setiawan. Over at the dance floor, guests will be treated to a ceiling area that projects geometric textures. Designed by LEDSCONTROL who also happen to be behind the centrepiece in Zouk’s main room, the mesmerising light display is one that helps reflect the theme of Capital.
