Palm Beach got its first look at the exquisite new Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible last week during two consecutive ‘Dawn at Dusk’ events hosted by Rolls-Royce Palm Beach.
VIP Rolls-Royce owners present and past were invited to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club on November 19 for an exclusive reveal of the $335,000 convertible before it goes into production early next year.
The following evening, more potential buyers got to see the car at the hip Buddha Sky Bar in Delray Beach.
“The Dawn is the ultimate luxury four-seat convertible for the Palm Beach set,” said Ralph Avila (right), General Sales Manager at Rolls-Royce Palm Beach on Okeechobee Blvd.
But anyone looking to take delivery of a new Dawn before the end of the 2016 Palm Beach ‘season’ may be out of luck. Avila told me that at the Mar-a-Lago event alone, he’d received an impressive 27 orders.
With Rolls-Royce Palm Beach only having an allocation of 35 new Dawns for the whole of 2016, that means the company is sold out until at least July next year.
“This is the right car at the right time for Rolls-Royce and Palm Beach luxury car buyers. A lot of people love our Phantom Drophead Coupe, but feel it’s a little too large and, at over $480,000, more than they’d like to pay,” explained Avila.
Being based on the elegant Wraith two-door coupe, the new Dawn is over a foot shorter than the Phantom and, priced at around $335,ooo, it’s around $150,000 less expensive.
Powered by a 563-horsepower version of Rolls’ turbine-smooth 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-12, the new Dawn should be a magical car to drive. And a superb convertible as the multi-layer roof can be lowered in just 22 seconds.
One way of jumping the ‘queue’ and being first in line to take delivery of a 2016 Dawn is to head over to the Naples Winter Wine Festival, being held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples from January 29-31.
That’s when the opportunity to become the very first Dawn owner in America goes under the auctioneer’s hammer. The proceeds will benefit the Naples Children and Education Foundation.
The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Division in the UK will be commissioning a special Naples Winter Wine Festival Dawn that will be finished in Arctic White with a Deep Red roof and Consort Red leather interior. It’s valued at more the $400,000 but could well reach $1 million-plus at auction.
When a $400,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe was auctioned at the wine festival back in 2007, it sold for an impressive $2 million.
