Following the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff founded this film festival to encourage the revival of lower Manhattan.
Over the course of the festival, Tribeca comes alive with celebrities, film and music. In the nine years since its launch, the Tribeca Film Festival has become an internationally renowned celebration, showcasing a variety of films and reaching a broad audience. It supports both emerging and established directors, promotes New York City as a major film center and attracts a lively and engaging crowd.
