Contemporary cuisine joins classic comfort food at the newly renovated Restaurant 44, formerly known as Towers Restaurant. Tina Kirin, chef de cuisine of 35 years, has welcomed the talents of executive chef Philip Kroesen and sous chef Timothy Rigas, who spend their summers cooking at the Southampton Bath & Tennis Club. “This is a wonderful opportunity to create everything fresh and from scratch,” says Kroesen, who’s excited to offer dishes like black truffle and currant ravioli with a sweet corn puree and pistachio crumble alongside Kirin’s hits like brisket, wiener schnitzel, chicken potpie, and homemade desserts like apple pound cake and lemon coconut cake.
The makeover, led by interior designer Patrick Killian, achieves a mid-century style with a nod to the twenty-first century. The decor is bright and sophisticated, and the art on display is for sale. “I used colors like charcoal, honey-beige, and sky blue, which were inspired by the organic, wavy tile mosaic that covers the face of the [Palm Beach Towers] building above the entrance,” says Killian, who recently headed the redesign of the Sailfish Club of Florida. Other new additions include a sleek bar and a tropical alfresco dining area. While the vibe is clean-lined during the day, modern lighting transforms the elegant dining room into an intimate supper club at night. Palm Beach (561-659-3241)
