Nothing quite says winter like the “NORTH,” and nonnative‘s 40th collection shows us exactly why.
Without getting too deep into natural geography, the further north you go, the colder it gets. Simple enough!
I can’t speak for anywhere beyond the British isles, but once you overstep the midlands, the climate gets pretty grim. It’s not all bad, though, because the colder it gets the more layers you can throw on – and who doesn’t like leveling up their style in winter with layering?
Stepping up your layering game isn’t always as rosy as you’d hope, but fret not, nonnative’s ’80s and ’90s Europe-inspired collection — its 40th to date — covers all bases.
A collection built from the ground up with performance textiles, functional silhouettes, and the base elements of an everyday casual wear wardrobe, “NORTH” has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from contemporary Japanese design.
Performance outerwear is where the collection excels, offering up down jackets, double-weave melton wool coats, two-way jackets, and fleece. If you’re worried about rain, don’t be – the collection boasts plenty of GORE-TEX.
nonnative’s new release schedule has you covered through the seasonal shift, as well, as “NORTH” covers both Winter 2021 and Spring 2022. It’s an interesting approach to staggering the launch calendars and makes more sense than you’d think: nonnative’s modular wardrobe works well for the cold that carries through from winter to spring, encouraging easy shifts in style as the temps climbs back up.
