Romeo and Juliet presented by Russian State Ballet of Siberia
The classic tale of star-crossed lovers is once again brought to life, this time through a powerful ballet masterpiece by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia. Sergei Prokofiev’s soaring score — often credited as being the best ever written — sets the extraordinarily emotional tone for the timeless tragedy of love and loss. Expect a stellar production combining a high-tech staging set, mesmerising special effects, breathtaking costumes and flawless choreography.

“Power Now And There” : A Solo Exhibition by Sabri Idrus
Independent art gallery Gajah Gallery brings to local shores the works of Sabri Idrus: A renowned Malaysian abstract artist. Idrus combines painting, graphic design and industrial materials, working with the surface of the material and experimenting with spatial stacking of multiple patterns, materials and forms, layering to create sensual textures. In this solo show, Idrus hinges on the concept of ‘power’ with twelve new works that are left raw and untreated, giving viewers the authority to interpret its meaning ponder its completion.. The works of Idrus have not gone unnoticed by international audiences; they’re regularly featured at contemporary art exhibitions across Asia, Europe and the United States.

Minimalism: Space. Light. Object
National Gallery brings the first Southeast Asian exhibition on minimalism to Singapore with over 150 works that explore the art movement’s history and legacy from the 1950s to present day. Works featured include ones by the movement’s most significant artists, including historical and influential Carmen Herrera, Mona Hatoum and Richard Long, as well as contemporary artists Charwei Tsai and Tan Ping. A collaboration with ArtScience Museum, the exhibit is an interactive one that combines painting, sculpture, spatial installations and immersive works that combine light and sound.

29th Singapore International Film Festival
Celebrate a tapestry of rich, untold stories of Asia and Southeast Asia at The Singapore International Film Festival. Back for the 29th year, the cinematic experience brings together filmmakers for the region, spotlighting both legends and up-and-coming ones. Premiering at the festival is Kingdom: An animated film about fantasy, personal identity and inner struggles by local filmmaker Tan Wei Keong. Not to be missed is the Silver Screen Awards: A global competition that recognises prominent Asian filmmakers of our time across various categories such as best film, director and performance. Offscreen, the festival also seeks to inspire aspiring filmmakers with masterclasses, talks and panel discussions.

Mind over Matter: Lionel Sabatté’s solo exhibition
Lionel Sabatté makes his debut exhibition in Asia at Mazel Galerie Singapore. He’s lauded as an experimentalist with his materials, often using discarded objects such as tea leaves from Yunnan, China and dust gathered from the metro stations in Paris. Controversially, he even uses human discards such as calluses and clipped nails in his Ongles Et Peaux Mortes series, transforming them into miniature human counter-figures. Sabatté’s work also crosses into the medium of sculptures — ‘Licorne, Tea Unicorn’ is one of his most powerful works and depicts a mystical creature sculpted from Pu’er tea leaves from China’s Yunnan province.
