It turns out you can go back in time after all.
Manhattanites who mourned the closing of legendary Upper East Side restaurant Swifty’s in 2016 will have the chance to savor the iconic eatery once again—this time in Palm Beach.
Original Swifty’s proprietor Robert Caravaggi has teamed up with The Colony Hotel to reinvent the society hangout for a pop-up in the hotel’s elegant dining room open through April.
“Swifty’s and The Colony are establishments that evoke a special kind of belonging,” says Sarah Wetenhall, The Colony Hotel’s president and CEO. “To bring this cherished New York perlieu back to life on Palm Beach is a gift to our community.”
Those who adored Swifty’s, known for impromptu performances by Liza Minelli and attracting regulars such as Michael Kors, Martha Stewart, and Bill Murray, remember the unparalleled service and intimate atmosphere that made the restaurant a staple for nearly two decades. In the 2.0 version of the eatery, diners will discover menu illustrations by Tim Snell, art curated by Manhattan’s Voltz Clarke Gallery, and decor featuring those famed banquettes, all with Palm Beach flair.
In the kitchen, Chef Stephen Attoe consulted with The Colony’s executive chef Tom Whitaker to bring back favored menu items like twin burgers, baked meatloaf, crab cakes, and tuna carpaccio.
“Swifty’s was a festive restaurant in New York where special people gathered,” says founder Robert Caravaggi. “The Colony is the jewel of Palm Beach island, and this union is the perfect marriage.”
