Elite Traveler: Can you please introduce yourself?
Olivier Besson: Originally, I was an automotive engineer, passionate about high performance metals. I spent 3 years in Laos then move to Hong Kong to partner with a Technology Company. I decided to combine my passion of yachting and engineering, and create an exclusive private yachting dealership and brokerage. We offer the most exclusive and high performance yachts in the market, working closely with MCY, Pershing, Monterey Boats, Riva, Nautique and Sealegs.
ET: Within the Asia Market, what is the strongest country for you?
OB: Definitely Hong Kong. My main focus is Hong Kong and China.
ET: For someone new to the boating marketing, what range of MYC would you suggest?
OB: MYC 65 or 70 is the perfect to start with. You have enough size for the family, to entertain friends and business partners. These models are very comfortable to host short and long-term, and you can go out from 3 to 5 days optimum.
ET: What is the average cost for this range?
OB: Prices start from 3.4M US with MYC 65 to 6.7M US depending on the customization.
ET: Please tell us about your new boat.
OB: MYC 86 is probably the most advanced of this size around the world. It includes features that you can only find in the mega-yachts. We have a garage, a very unique Portuguese bridge, a very large balcony, about 110 to 120 feet and a bow lounge at the front, an exclusive feature of MYC. Crew stairs for staff to get access to every floor is very accommodating as well, which gives total privacy to owners and guests. We definitely have a real beauty here.
ET: How many do you expect to sell?
OB: We already have very positive feedback. People are even inquiring about larger sizes.
ET: Are these people who already own a boat asking this?
OB: Yes, definitely.
ET: I heard you sold the first one here in Hong Kong?
OB: Yes, it was a success and has been delivered.
ET: What’s the delivery time?
OB: We need at least 4 to 6 months delivery, depending if you’re on the waiting list.
