Hair and beauty services at the push of a button? Sign me up! Actually, I already did, many times over as soon as I discovered the new on-demand beauty app GlamSquad. This dream-come-true launched at the beginning of the year in New York, and has since expanded to Los Angeles, and reportedly many other major regions to come.
Glamsquad’s prices are comparable to prices you’ll receive at salons: Blowouts at $50, updos starting at $85, and braids and makeup at $75. The benefit of the app is that the booking process is much more convenient than a salon visit. It used to be, back in the old fashioned days of 2013, that when I needed some last minute beauty services (this happens often, as I know I have an event that night, yet dread doing my hair at the end of a long day), I’d call around and hope that a salon in my area could take me day-of. When I did happen to find an appointment, I would have to then rush, have to find parking, and go home to change. With Glamsquad, I can press a couple of buttons, sit back, and wait for a stylist to show up at my house or office, without the stresses that come with visiting anywhere outside of your home (welcome to Los Angeles.) All of Glamsquad’s hair and makeup professionals have undergone extensive training and are as talented as ever. I have had the pleasure of meeting half a dozen, who were each as polite, kind, punctual, and professional as can be.
Convenience aside (did I mention payment is all done in-app, so you don’t have to worry about it) it’s just a fun and easy process. Much like on-demand anything, you order what you want (you can choose your hair and makeup style from a menu of options) and then just sit back, relax, and get glammed up.
