Hard work pays off and in the case of Sharad Malhotra, it is quite visible. With back to back successful shows on television, this young actor is working even harder to leave behind a rich legacy that is worth inspiration. In conversation with TMM, the dynamic actor talks about his vision and mission in the industry.
Sharad Malhotra, You have been a part of multiple hit shows. Do you feel any pressure?
I believe it’s not the pressure. It’s just that people expect you to do better work than the previous one.
People always expect you to move one stair up in the ladder. So the pressure is not there but I am
excitedly nervous.
Sharad Malhotra, As a television actor, what is the toughest part of the profession?
I think it’s about delivering and performing all the time. I guess all television actors have no personal life. We are working round the clock. Somewhere as an actor, you are all the time under the scanner and you have to keep performing. It’s the toughest part. In cinema, you get time to work on the character but here, it is far stressful.
Sharad Malhotra, What do you enjoy the most as an actor?
Playing different character and not being myself. If I would have been any profession I would not have a chance to do or play such different characters.
Any changes you wish to see in the television industry?
It is evolving and things have changed with time. The content is changing and even people have changed a lot. The best part is the change in work culture and I guess it will definitely improve more with time. Honestly, I don’t want to change anything in the industry. I am enjoying the current phase and I see a hell and heaven difference between the time I did my first show to the show I am doing today.
You have seen name, fame and even crazy fans. Nothing lasts forever, do you agree?
Absolutely, nothing lasts forever. What lasts is how good you as a person and what have you done in
your life. If you have left something good behind, people talk positive about it and if you are not nice
then it’s of no use. My motive is to create a body of work that people talk and get inspired. Karma is very strong. I am doing my bit and let us see what destiny has for me.
What being stylish means to you?
Just be yourself! No scope for underdressing or overdressing.
You always had a chocolate boy image. Do you want to change it?
Yes, I am trying to do but I also need to understand what my career demands. I am working more and my workout timings are bizarre. I workout at midnight. I keep posting stories which keep people
inspiring and my fans are going crazy. My idea is to create a balance and then see where my hard work takes me.
You have done a couple of bold scenes in your career. Will you do a full monty if the script demands?
Yes, if the scene requires then why not? I don’t want to do it forcefully but if the scene requires and the director visions it, I am ready to do it. Having said that, the shot has to be captured in a classy way; aesthetically it should be sound and should not look cheap at all.
What about future plans?
I usually don’t plan, as every time I plan, I fall flat. I take life now each day as it comes. I like to go with the flow. I know that there is somebody there who is taking good care of me.
