Hong Kong-based gallery, Over The Influence, is pleased to announce Cleon Peterson’s first collaboration with Singaporean curator Khairuddin Hori. Commissioned by the National Arts Council, Hori presents ‘Lock Route’, an outdoor sculpture exhibition opening on 13 January 2017 at Gillman Barracks until 30 June 2017.
The intervention features a large-scale mural and life-size sculpture at the former military barracks where Peterson’s notorious clashing figures symbolise a struggle between power and submission in the fluctuating fabric of contemporary society. Re-evaluating all values of class, morals and prejudices, Peterson’s work presents vignettes of society re-imagined.
‘Lock Route’ invites visitors to traverse the knolls of this repurposed army barracks as part of their encounter with art. In a concoction of eclectic, urban and contemporary aesthetics from a line-up of international artists, this outdoor exhibition elicits both mental introspection and physical response.
