From an aspiring B. Tech Bioinformatics graduate to a successful musician, how did the transition happen?
The journey started when I decided to quit my 9-5 job in Hyderabad. I realized that it’s not meant for me and I really want to pursue singing. It was a tough decision but, today, I am glad that I made it. I came to Delhi and started taking professional training to improve my techniques.

Pallavi BaberwalWhat is music to Pallavi Baberwal?
Music is a lot of things to me, if I have to put it in one line, ‘It’s my complete life’. I don’t think there was ever a time when I doubted myself for the choices I made or felt for a moment that music is not my cup of tea. Even the challenges that I’ve faced & struggles that came along my way; they just made me clearer that this is what I want to do. Music is a channel for me to fulfill another dream of adding joy & value to society.

Today we have so many covers of every popular song. What is your way to make it unique?
I have a strong belief that even if you are covering a song sung by any other artist, you can add your own colours or flavour to it. Bring in your creativity and improvise accordingly.

You’ve been working as a clinical musical therapist, where you help physically and mentally disabled people. How has been the experience till now?
Working as a Clinical Music Therapist is a fulfilling and very satisfying experience altogether. It’s amazing to see how music can affect your brain and can make your health better. To be able to achieve that with a patient is a very satisfying experience.

Pallavi BaberwalPallavi BaberwalMaking use of your talent to help someone or to bring a change is an amazing work. What inspired you to take part?
I always wanted to give back to society, and through my music, I was able to achieve this dream. I associated myself with organizations and NGOs that work with underprivileged kids and teach them. I believe if you can make music a part of the early education of a child, it can help them grow tremendously in various aspects of life, as music helps rejuvenate inner strength and energy.

You’ve created a medley as a tribute to the lost gems of Bollywood industry, Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. Tell us about the experience.
Losing the two greatest legends was the greatest shock of this year. I was lost for a couple of days and decided to pay a small musical tribute to convey my love & gratitude for them.
