To help Palm Beach residents protect themselves and others through the county’s gradual reopening and continue to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation will donate more than 20,000 surgical masks to Palm Beach residents on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at three drive-through locations. Palm Beach residents must present proof of residency to receive a pack of six surgical masks.
Residents are invited to drive their vehicle up to the distribution point and place proof of Palm Beach residency on the passenger side dashboard. Once residency is confirmed, masked and gloved foundation staff and first responders will place masks in the trunk.
“The Foundation works as a first responder for our police and fire departments, whether it’s emergency financial assistance for medical needs, academic scholarships, or protective equipment for the community at large. We strive to meet real needs in real time because we’re all in this together. It’s why we do what we do,” said John F. Scarpa, President and Co-founder of The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation.

Early in the pandemic, The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation created an Emergency Fund for Town of Palm Beach First Responders and donated 1,000 hazmat suits, 10,000 N95 medical grade masks, and hand sanitizer to the Palm Beach Police & Fire Rescue Departments. The Foundation made subsequent donations of medical grade masks to the West Palm Beach Police Department, and Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Medical Centers, FoundCare Health Center, and distributed more than 40,000 complimentary surgical masks to residents in recent weeks.
“The entire world needs to take every precaution available to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In South Florida, we need to remain vigilant about containing the virus because we live in a ‘hot spot’ and our demographics make us ripe for bad results and a possible second wave. Social distancing and wearing a mask help prevent transmission,” said Kirk Blouin, Palm Beach Town Manager and Director of Public Safety.
“I want to thank The Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation for always being available to provide support and resources to the Town’s public safety workers and citizens, and doing all it can to help keep this community safe,” Blouin said.
