This 50mm special edition experience watch from Panerai is loaded with all the bells and whistles. To begin with, it is an experience watch — meaning buyers get the chance to go on a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic expedition with explorer and adventurer Mike Horn. Additionally, the watch is made of a proprietary material developed with the concepts of recycling and conservation in mind. It is composed of steel and recycled metal from the 35-meter drive shaft of Mike Horn’s sailing ship, Pangaea, which he took around the world. It also marks the first Submersible to house a tourbillon escapement. The 277-part hand-wound caliber is protected by a soft inner iron ring to guard against magnetic fields. Water resistant to 300 meters; just five will be made.
