Paris Motor Show 2014: 10 must-see cars

Once again in 2014, there is no shortage of premieres at the Paris Motor Show. These 10 new vehicles stand out from the rest as some of the most highly anticipated, the most surprising or the most spectacular, or all three!

Renault Espace

One of the most anticipated premieres of the show is taking place on the Renault stand, where the next-generation of the Espace marks the model’s transition from minivan to crossover.

Inside the new vehicle, the center console houses the new R-Link 2 multimedia system, which includes the brand-new Multi-Sense system for creating customized settings.

The new Espace is due to launch in Europe during the first quarter of 2015, though pricing details have not been announced.

Inside the Quartz is a driver-focused i-Cockpit, including a compact steering wheel, a heads-up display, a center console and a touchscreen.

In a Paris exclusive, Citroën presents this concept based on a five-door convertible version of its famous C1 city car.

The C1 Urban Ride is designed to showcase the car’s customization potential and its more adventurous side.

At interactive terminals on the stand, visitors will be able to vote for or against turning the concept into a future production model.

Opel Corsa

The French capital will see the debut of the fifth-generation Corsa. This iteration of the supermini introduces a multitude of driving aids, including a blind spot detector, sign recognition, sudden lane departure warning, high beam assist, following distance indication and forward collision warning.

Opel has announced a starting price of €11,990 for the Essentia three-door model, with the first shipments due to arrive in early 2015.

Volkswagen XL Sport

The German manufacturer is creating a stir with this racy concept, which pairs the Volkswagen XL1 hybrid with the same 200hp Ducati V-Twin engine that powers the 1199 Superleggera.

Audi TT Sportback

Car fans in Paris will be able to admire this five-door sedan concept, a version of the famous TT.

Powered by a 400hp 2.0-liter TFSI turbo engine, the Audi TT Sportback boasts 0 to 100km/h acceleration in under four seconds.

Bentley Mulsanne Speed

Bentley Mulsanne Speed

Powered by a 6.75-liter V8 engine with 537hp, the new performance-focused Bentley boasts exceptional stats for a luxury car, including a top speed of 305km/h and 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds.

The Mulsanne Speed will be the star attraction on the British brand’s stand in Paris and will begin shipping in early 2015. Prices start at £252,000.

Toyota FCV

Toyota first fuel cell vehicle

In a European premiere, the Japanese brand will present its first hydrogen-powered fuel cell sedan.

Due to launch in Japan next spring, the Toyota FCV will arrive in the US and Europe later in 2015.

Refueling takes just three minutes, and the car emits nothing but the water vapor resulting from the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.

Mercedes-AMG GT

The latest model from Mercedes’ high performance division will debut in Paris before launching next spring.

With its 4-liter bi-turbo 462hp V8 engine, the GT is capable of 0 to 100km/h acceleration in four seconds and boasts a top speed of 304km/h. Performance stats like these position the car as a serious rival to the ever-popular Porsche 911.

Ferrari 458 Speciale A

Luca di Montezemolo presents the new 458 Speciale A, a convertible packing a 605hp V8 engine.

Capable of going from 0 to 100km/h in just three seconds, the model is the most powerful convertible yet from the Italian brand. Only 499 units will be produced.
