Khyati Minglani, Founder, Trailblazers PR talks about her journey in the industry, learning and future plans for her brainchild.
Tell us about your journey into the world of Public Relations.
My journey, just like any other, has been full of obstacles and challenges, which taught me a lot. I started as an independent firm and getting clients on board wasn’t an easy task since I was very new. It took a great amount of hard work and dedication for me and my team to built a market reputation and hold credibility among our clients. Currently, I have some of the prestigious awards including Business World, Franchise India and Big F under my name and I guess that speaks a lot.
How did you get into the world of Public Relations for restaurants and hospitality?
My PR journey took its first step when I interned with a PR agency in my second year of graduation. Not did I perform well, but I also understood that PR was my ultimate calling. Since then, there has been no looking back. As far as the food industry is concerned, I am big foodie myself, so working for restaurants came naturally to me. Also, I tried my hands with corporate firms as well but didn’t enjoy doing it as much as I did with lounges and bars. That made me realise that the hospitality industry was my forte.
Over the years, how has your personality changed?
When I started my own agency, I had accumulated experience from my past jobs, but things change when you are the owner of a company. Handling everything on your own teaches you things differently. From being a PR manager to being the owner of a PR agency, I have evolved a lot as a person, in terms of understanding the market, deciphering the client’s needs, managing my human resources, optimally using the available resources and more.
Who supported you the most in your career till date?
Apart from my parents, who have been my pillar of strength, my husband too has been a great support in my career. Both of them have always encouraged and supported me to move ahead, take challenges and grow. Also, my team has been my constant support as well.
What is your take on the changes in the food industry and restaurants?
The F & B industry has evolved tremendously over the past decade. From restaurants just being places to have family dinners have now become a part of everyone’s lifestyle. And the competition has been growing by the second. Today, the owners are always up to creating something new and unique for their patrons, to stay ahead in the game and hence PR has become important too because without the correct promotion, no restaurants will be able to sell their products.
What is your take on the industry friends?
Most of us believe in a healthy competition and therefore we are friends beyond workspace. I have a lot of friends in the industry with whom I party and hangout. It is a very relaxed and fun culture out there these days.
Khyati Minglani, what’s your take on social media, bloggers, and influencers?
Social media has become one of the most powerful weapons for marketing these days. Be it a top-notch restaurant or a newbie cafe, everyone needs to reach the masses and social media is the best way to do it. Plus, influencer/blogger marketing too has been doing really well for them. From promoting specific products to events and launch parties, bloggers have been influencing the markets for a long time now.
What’s your future plan?
I am planning to expand my work pan India and the expansion plans are under process.
