This legendary cash-only steakhouse is not to be missed while you’re in New York — and is definitely worth the trip to Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. The restaurant dates back to 1887 but became a hotspot for Manhattan businessmen after the Williamsburg Bridge opened in 1903. It wasn’t until 1984 when Peter Luger Steakhouse was a staple in the New York dining scene — the restaurant has even earned one Michelin star. You can feel the history of the establishment from the moment you step in, and it still retains the charm of a bygone era thanks to its worn wooden floors and stucco walls. Not only is it one of the most storied steakhouses in the city, but it serves amazing dry-aged beef (which is dry-aged on site) and comfort food, like onion rings and baked potatoes. While here, try the porterhouse, but you truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. For those who won’t find themselves in New York anytime soon, the Butcher Shop sells uSDA Prime, dry-aged steaks, extra thick-cut bacon and their Peter Luger Old Fashioned Sauce.
