Porsche’s global initiative, “The Art of Dreams” exhibition brings an immersive larger-than-life installation by artist Cyril Lancelin. The exhibition makes its first stop in Asia and it is none other than Singapore — Asia’s very own city of dreams, in conjunction with the 10th edition of Singapore Art Week (SAW) 2022 this year.

Since gaining independence in 1965, the sovereign city-state’s reputation for innovation has enticed the dreamers. As it blossomed from an up-and-coming port-city into a prosperous global hub, entrepreneurs from all over the world converged on the city-state to bring their dreams to life.

As Porsche Asia Pacific celebrates its 20th year in the vibrant and diverse region, Singapore solidifies its strategic position within the region as a beacon of luxury with dreamers who are young and digitally-savvy. The “Art of Dreams” exhibition held in Singapore is thus a befitting sequel to recent cultural events held such as “SCOPES Driven” by Porsche and Dale Chihuly’s Glass in Bloom Taycan art car at Gardens by the Bay, with the aim of celebrating the creative spirit of Singaporeans.

Christian Lehwald, Head of Porsche Experience & New Platforms said, “Porsche is driven by dreams, and Singapore is a vibrant global hub for art and innovation, a shining city realised by people who believe in making dreams come true. After two challenging years living with the global pandemic, we want to continue our celebration of the creative spirit in Asia Pacific, and encourage everyone to remember their dreams, to keep dreaming. After successfully launching The Art of Dreams in Paris last year, we are very happy to bring the initiative to Asia.”

Showing across major cities around the world, “The Art of Dreams” deals with the motifs of dreams through various art installations. Titled, “Remember your dreams”, it is Cyril Lancelin’s first commissioned work for the exhibition.

Showcasing at The Promontory@Marina Bay for 1 week from 21 January to 29 January this year, the cavernous installation measures 10 x 12.4 x 7.6 meters (L x W x H) and invites the viewer to pause for a moment, get lost in its bright and optimistic colour, and stroll within the structure. The surrealistic environment found within and outside of the installation invites visitors to step out amidst the milieu of their everyday life and remember their dreams.

“I envision ‘Remember your dreams’ as a sculpture to be lived in and to be experienced by many. Therefore, I am beyond excited to be bringing the installation to a city I have heard so much about and have been always keen on exploring, so it continues to awaken the child in all of us. Following a time when in-person art experiences and human interactions have been in short supply, this feels even more special,” said artist Cyril Lancelin on the artwork making its first stop in Asia.

Porsche is commissioning several works of art on the subject of dreams as part of “The Art of Dreams” to be featured within various exhibitions with the aim of inspiring people, conveying optimism and contributing to a sense of community within lively cityscapes.

The exhibition series will be making an appearance in a number of major cultural capitals. The next stop for “The Art of Dreams” initiative features a public exhibition in Milan coinciding with the Salone del Mobile in June 2022.
