I like spontaneous nights, a random on the day invite arrived and in the evening, I ended up at Kettners in Soho for food, drinks and a master class. Kettner’s is made up of 4 Georgian houses, host a bar, restaurant and private rooms. Cabaret shows, and 9 different spaces, cocktail and champagne bar, the pudding bar, brassiere etc.
We started the night with small snacks. Moreish delights of sliders, finger food, the patties in the sliders were incredibly tasty and juicy. I defiantly need to come back and dine or have afternoon tea here.
Jason gave us demonstrations in his expertise in his techniques and the funniest one had to be the Old Fashion. The drink takes over 10 minutes to make, if no shortcuts involved it’s all down to the stirring. The important part is to stir the brown sugar until it fully dissolves.
We made mojito’s, margaritas, and other classic cocktails, the night ended with a standoff and we had to conjure our own creations. My spicy berry cooler almost made it to win, but someone else got the grand prize in the end.
Jason taught me knowledge on the different rum finishes, and I was even more confident in becoming a better mixologist in the future.
